MariachiVille

Plaza Garibaldi, Mexico City, 2021

Garibaldi Plaza is Mariachi-central in Mexico City.  For decades it was known for its rough-and-tumble crowd and best avoided after dark. People usually went in large groups and/or states of extreme intoxication. These days the city has cleaned up its image somewhat with mariachi-themed policemen and a new museum of mezcal. But you still need to watch your step here; everyone’s selling something, and sometimes for a price you’d rather not pay.

With special thanks to Pablo Casacuevas, my partner in crime on this particular adventure.  Salud!
